AastraLink Pro 160 - Quick Setup Guide

Aastra LogoThe AastraLink Pro 160 is a cool network appliance that delivers simple PBX functionality to small businesses. Powered by a unique implementation of the Asterisk open-source IP-PBX, the Aastalink Pro 160 delivers some of the typical features found in a telephone system. Auto-attendant, voicemail are out-of-the-box PBX telephony features of the Aastralink Pro 160 as are: call forward, holding, call log, call transfer, 3 way conferencing, corporate and personal directory.

By simply plugging the AastraLink Pro 160 into an existing LAN (Local Area Network) it is ready to start communicating. The AastraLink Pro 160 auto discovers and configures any new Aastra SIP phones connected to your LAN making the installation process a breeze.

Aastralink Pro 160 Quick Set-up Instructions

  1. Connect your Aastralink Pro 160 to your Local Area Network:
    • Connect an ethernet cable to the LAN port of the Aastralink Pro 160 and the other end into your full-duplex ethernet switch.
    • Connect the external AC power supply to power up your Aastralink Pro 160.
    • The status LED on the front of your Aastralink Pro 160 turns steady green during startup, then flashes alternating red/green during a firmware update. The Aastralink Pro 160 is ready to use when the status LED slowly flashes green.

      WARNING: DO NOT interrupt the power during a firmware update. Your Aastralink Pro 160 may be rendered unusable if the power is removed from during this part of the boot cycle.
  2. Connect an Aastra 67xxi series phone to your Local Area Network:
    • The first Aastra IP telephone auto-discovered by the Aastralink Pro 160 will be designated as an Administrator Phone.
    • Follow the screen prompts on the LCD panel of the phone.
      HINT: If available, plug in an Aastra 6757i phone to become the Administrator Phone. The large LCD display of the Aastra 6757i makes it easier to follow the prompts used to configure the Aastralink Pro 160.
  3. Accessing the Aastralink Pro 160 Web GUI
    • Note the extension number of the phone.
    • Obtain the IP address of your Aastra IP telephone by pressing the "Options" button, selecting the "Phone Status" menu item and the "IP+MAC Address" sub-menu.
    • Using a modern web browser (Mozilla Firefox for example), enter the IP address of the phone.
    • You will be presented with a login page in your web browser. Enter your extension and password to connect or alternatively, log in with administrative credentials with the extension "admin" and a password of "22222".

The AastraLink Pro 160 can host up to 50 extensions when SIP trunking is used. Up to 9 AastraLink Pro systems can be linked together using the internet to create a WAN linked multi site office environment. Remote tele-working from a home office is as easy as taking an auto discovered Aastra 67xxi series SIP phone and plugging it into your UPnP enabled home network.
